M. Allison Lea is the name. Persnickety proofing is the game.
My experience with news copy editing, writing, and manuscript editing coupled with an MFA in Creative Writing from Creighton University has allowed me to become a valuable resource for writers looking to polish final manuscripts or develop ideas into full-length novel.
It’s been said that if one wants to be a good writer, one must also be an avid reader. I can attest that this is not a fallacy, and I’d also submit that if one wants to be a good editor, one must read everything. My obsession with reading has certainly assisted me to hone my skills as both a writer and an editor, and I am poised to help writers prepare, refine, and perfect their manuscripts for self-publication, indie publication, or agent querying. With a keen eye for story flow, plot, character development, and grammar and syntax, I help writers flesh out and develop their book ideas into novels, and line edit their final manuscripts.
I prefer fiction manuscripts but am open to non-fiction as well. My experience has been primarily in literary fiction and commercial fiction (romance, erotic romance, Young Adult, fantasy, and science fiction).
I was born and bred in the Cornhusker state! I currently reside in Omaha, Neb., with my husband and our two furkids–you might be familiar with The Pushy Pomeranian and the Contemptuous Cat. I’m a beauty and skincare junkie, I collect books and perfume, I’ve got a love-hate, on/off relationship with running, and I love to try new restaurants, see the newest horror flicks, spend time with my family, or see what I can come up with in the kitchen that’s actually edible.
I’m a graduate of Creighton University’s Creative Writing MFA program, a member of the Editorial Freelance Association, and a member of the Heartland Chapter of Romance Writers of America.
